Boulos Financial Group (Boulos) is committed to the privacy of our clients, our employees, and our representatives. Our privacy policy details our standards for collecting, using, disclosing, and protecting your personal information.
Personal Information:
The term “Personal information” signifies any factual or subjective information concerning an identifiable individual. Personal information may be collected concerning a variety of individuals with whom our company does business, including from group and individual life insured, beneficiaries, employees, and brokers.
Personal information can be collected in a variety of forms, including written (such as correspondence and memoranda) as well as electronic communications, audio recordings and photographs.
Examples of personal information may include information concerning an individual’s name, age, sex, health, personal characteristics, or personal and financial circumstances. Personal information may also include such things as identification numbers (such as SIN or employee numbers), banking and income information, employment records, credit records and medical information.
Personal information does not include the name, title or business address, telephone number or e-mail address of employees of an organization.
Boulos Financial Group follows the 10 fair information principles provided by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC).
Accountability:
The Privacy Officer has the responsibility to implement and ensure that the employees are trained on all aspects of the privacy policy. The Privacy Officer is also responsible for handling any complaints regarding the handling of personal information.
Identifying Purposes:
Boulos Financial Group will collect only the information required to pursue the normal activities of the business. Persons collecting information are expected to be able to explain to individuals the purpose for which the information is being collected. Boulos will not collect, use, or disclose information beyond that which is required to fulfill the purposes specified. Any information that we do not require will be destroyed in a safe and secure manner.
Consent:
Boulos Financial Group will seek an individual’s consent before obtaining personal information. Consent may be sought in a variety of ways depending on the circumstances. Sometimes consent may be obtained from an authorized representative, such as a legal guardian, or an individual holding a power of attorney. We will only disclose personal information to a third party with consent or when required by law.
Limiting Collection:
We will only collect the information that is reasonably required to fulfill the purposes identified.
Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention:
We will only use and retain the information as it relates to the purpose for which it was collected. Any personal information that is no longer required will be destroyed.
Accuracy:
We make every effort to ensure that the personal information we collect is accurate, up to date and complete.
Safeguards:
We have implemented safeguards and appropriate training to ensure that your personal information remains strictly confidential. We limit access to your information to only those employees that require it. Precautions depend on the nature and format of the information collected. Methods include locking offices, desks and filing cabinets and technological measures designed to limit access to authorized persons including firewalls, passwords, and encryption.
Openness:
Boulos Financial group provides to individuals upon demand the specific information about its policies and procedures relating to the management of personal information, a description of the type of personal information held by the company as well a general account of its use. Boulos has made public the title and address of those accountable for the company’s policies regarding inquiries and complaints.
Individual Access:
You have the right to ask about the existence, use, and disclosure of your personal information and you shall be given access to that information. We can provide you with this information within a reasonable period after we have received your written request, usually within thirty days.
In certain situations, we may refuse to provide you with the information you requested if there are references to other individuals or the information cannot be disclosed for legal or other reasons.

Review of the Policy:
Our privacy policy will be reviewed every three years or when there are substantial changes to provincial and federal privacy legislation or other regulatory requirements.
